The legendary department store in Toronto came to an end in February 2017. The Centre for Social Innovation (CSI) hosted a 4-day party to celebrate the legacy of the store with community-oriented art and design programming. We were invited by the Canada’s design museum - DesignExchange to create a lounge for the party using all the products that were sold in the original store.

We acquired all the material for our lounge construction at Ed’s store-closing sale. A wide range of seemingly-random products were picked out for different functions of the room including seating, lighting, and of course, lounging. Ed’s Mirvish theatre light pole banners were used heavily to create the centre piece - a giant bean bag for everyone to jump in! The lounge was well used and “abused” during the party and was one of the most instagrammed moment during the 4-day celebration.
